“Abide in me…”
John 15:4 (ESV)
We have endless choices and options before us. So many good things to do with our time, but what’s the best most beneficial use of our time? What will last forever and never disappoint?
I’m home from a seventeen day vacation exploring fifteen states and seeing some of the most beautiful sights in our nation. I crossed off many bucket list sights, but as I try to determine which was the most amazing, I struggle. So instead I turn my thoughts to what I missed most about being at home. I missed quite minutes of unhurried prayer, writing in my journal, turning the crisp pages in my new Bible, which had been too big to take, and sitting in my favorite chair with a hot cup of coffee. What I missed most was unhurried minutes with Jesus. This isn’t a complete picture of abiding in Jesus. It’s simply a starting place. Abiding in Jesus on my vacation was seeing Him in His creation. It was beholding the beauty and knowing that this masterpiece I was witnessing paled in comparison to knowing Jesus and abiding in Him forever.
At the women’s retreat, I pray we learn to value nothing more than abiding in Jesus. Please accept this gift of a day to learn from others and to share your abiding relationship with Jesus with others. In His love, Julie.
